Advertising can be thought of as a reflection of us as individuals, market segments, and society as a whole. It is often noted that advertising can vary dramatically depending on the time period, as has been seen from many think pieces on how offensive ads from previous decades seem to a modern audience. While some of these ads may seem foreign, archaic, or offensive to our more modern sensibilities, they also have the power to better understand the social and political climate of the past. In order to stay relevant, advertisers must adapt to changing styles and fashions to resonate with an audience.
