Coleman D. Green, The Effect of Geometry on Macroscopic Quantum Coherence in Light-Harvesting Nanotubular Complexes
In the past few decades, physicists Physics Department have started to recognize the role that quantum mechanics plays in biological systems. Namely, the role that macroscopic quantum coherences play in the efficient absorption, emission, and transportation of light energy in photosynthetic nanotubules in Green Sulphur Bacteria (GSB) has been the focus of much of the recent research into quantum biology. In this thesis, I studied the role that geometry plays in the efficiency of these photosynthetic processes.
